The Regulation of the Competition of the Polish Social Psychological Society (PSPS)

for funding research conducted by junior members

§1

Competition Objective

  1. The competition aims to grant funding for submitted applications for the implementation of empirical research aimed at testing pre-registered hypotheses related to social psychology issues, culminating in the submission of results in the form of an English-language publication (by point 1 §5). 
  2. The funding amount for one applicant may be up to 5000 Polish złoty.

§2

Conditions of Participation in the Competition

  1. Participation in the competition signifies acceptance of the regulations and consent to the processing of personal data of all co-authors presented in the research application and the publication of their names on the website psps.badania.net if funding is granted. 
  2. The allocated funds may only be used for the implementation of the research described in the application within the time frame specified by the selected Applicant on the research panel https://www.prolific.co/ or a Polish panel recommended by the Quality Control Program for Interviewers (Program Kontroli Jakości Pracy Ankieterów). 
  3. Individuals who have not settled their accounts for previous projects funded within competitions organized by PSPS are excluded from participating in the competition.

§3

Recruitment of Competition Participants

  1. The applicant must be a junior member of the Polish Society of Social Psychology (with no outstanding membership fees). The applicant can apply for funding for research conducted independently or with a team whose members are indicated in the application. Applications from individuals who have not previously won the competition will be given priority in receiving support.
  2. Applications should be sent to the address psps.info.pl@gmail.com by May 6, 2025. A grant application is considered complete if it contains 3 parts (minimum 0.5; maximum 2 A4 pages for each):

Evaluation of Submitted Applications

  1. Complete applications submitted on time will be evaluated by the competition committee appointed by the PSPS Board until May 22, 2025. The decision to grant funding will be made by the PSPS Board based on the ranked list of applications prepared by the competition committee. 
  2. The list of applications that receive funding will be published on the website psps.badania.net by May 22, 2025.

§5

Rights and Obligations of Competition Participants

  1. The proper settlement of the application implementation involves submitting a report describing the results of the conducted research and the manuscript no later than May 22, 2026, to the address psps.info.pl@gmail.com, and providing confirmation of manuscript submission in English, reporting the results of the conducted research to the PSPS Social Psychological Bulletin (spb.psychopen.eu) or another reputable scientific journal no later than May 22, 2026, to the same address. In exceptional cases, the main applicant may apply to the PSPS Board for an extension of this deadline. The condition for settling the publication is to provide information about the source of project funding (Project funded by the Polish Social Psychological Society granted… (project number x/year) // The project financed by a grant no. x/year awarded to… by the Polish Social Psychological Society). 
  2. Failure to meet the condition in point 1 will result in a temporary inability to apply for funding for further member activities (e.g., participation in summer schools, grant competitions, and association awards) until a correct settlement is submitted.

§6

Rights and Obligations of Organizers

  1. The Competition Organizer undertakes to disburse the awarded funding by the approved Competition Participation Application. 
  2. The Organizer reserves the right to terminate the competition without resolution. The Organizer undertakes to justify the refusal of project funding. 
  3. Failure to settle the project entails the obligation for the Project Manager to refund all or part of the expended funds. The PSPS Board makes decisions regarding the amount of refund after reviewing the opinion of the Competition Committee.

§7

Appeal Procedure

  1. The Competition Participant has the right to withdraw the submitted Application until the end of the Competition Participant recruitment process. 
  2. An appeal procedure in the case of non-qualification for the competition is not provided.

§8

Confidentiality

  1. All applications submitted for participation in the grant competition are treated as confidential and will not be used within or outside the competition without the knowledge and consent of its participants.

§9

Other Provisions

  1. The regulations come into force on the announcement date of the competition participant recruitment process. 
  2. Submission of an Application for participation in the funding competition is synonymous with confirming familiarity with the rights and obligations arising from these Regulations by the Competition Participants and constitutes acceptance by the Competition Participants of the provisions of these Regulations. 
  3. Any disputes arising in connection with the implementation of the competition will be resolved amicably, and in case of failure to reach an agreement, the dispute will be resolved by a common court with its registered office in Warsaw.
