Webinar invitation: Building Global Psychological Science Through Special Issues

On Thursday, November 5th, 2026, an inter-organisational action group of researchers will hold the first webinar of this initiative on addressing the crisis of generalizability in psychological science.

WHY GLOBALIZE? | People from understudied cultures deserve a psychological science that represents and explains their social worlds. The field also needs more globally inclusive studies to understand human
beings across diverse cultural ecologies, rather than relying mainly on the Western and Confucian contexts that currently dominate research.

WHY SPECIAL ISSUES? | Dedicated Special Issues in mainstream journals create space for research on understudied cultures and test how far existing theories travel. They also build communities of editors
and reviewers with expertise in globalizing psychological science.

WHY THIS WEBINAR? | Developing a Special Issue is a major collaborative undertaking, and many researchers hesitate without a network of potential co-editors, authors and reviewers. The webinar is a
first step toward building that network.

WHO IS IT FOR? | Anyone interested in globalizing psychological science, including those who:

  • have developed Special Issues and want to share their experience;
  • are considering proposing one;
  • would be willing to contribute as reviewers;
  • would like to support in other ways, share ideas or simply observe.

The initiative is not tied to any single organisation, and researchers from all associations, regions and career stages are welcome.
The Polish Social Psychology Society is among the organizations supporting this initiative.
