Social Psychological Bulletin – A few words about the PSPS Journal

HISTORY | Long-standing members of the Polish Social Psychological Society will certainly remember the Society’s beginnings in 2004. Just two years later, in 2006, PSPS launched its own scientific journal, Psychologia Społeczna. The journal’s first Editor-in-Chief was Prof. Maria Lewicka.

Initially, the journal published articles exclusively in Polish. As it developed, English-language publications were gradually introduced, ultimately leading to its transformation into Social Psychological Bulletin (SPB) in 2018, when Dr. Hab. Michał Parzuchowski and Dr. Hab. Marcin Bukowski took over as Editors-in-Chief (for the term 2017-2021). Currently, for the 2022–2026 term, the Editors-in-Chief are Dr. Hab. Katarzyna Cantarero, Dr. Hab. Monika Wróbel and Dr. Hab. Katarzyna Jaśko. For the 2027–2030 term, the Editors-in-Chief will bet Dr. Hab.. Michał Białek, Dr. Hab. Magdalena Formanowicz and Dr. Janis Zickfeld.

SPB TODAY | Today, Social Psychological Bulletin is an international journal indexed in e.g., Web of Science (Impact Factor 2.3; Q2 in Psychology, Social category) and Scopus (CiteScore 2.7). SPB has Polish roots and an international Editorial Team.

WHY SPB? | With so many academic journals to choose from, you may wonder: why submit your work to Social Psychological Bulletin?

Open science. Since its inception, SPB has been committed to the principles of open science, which is still not a golden standard across all scientific journals. Publishing in the journal is free of charge for authors (no APC), and all articles are published in full under an Open Access model, making research findings freely accessible to researchers and practitioners around the world. Importantly, because transparency standards are important to SPB, the journal requires data file to accompany each empirical submission.

Openness to diverse approaches. SPB welcomes interdisciplinary research that integrates different theoretical and methodological perspectives. In addition to social psychology, the journal publishes work at the intersection of the social sciences, humanities, and life sciences.

A supportive review process. SPB is committed to constructive, supportive, and transparent communication with authors. The goal of peer review is not only to evaluate manuscripts but also to help authors improve their work. Editors and reviewers strive to maintain high scientific standards while fostering a collegial and respectful review process.

SALOMON ASCH AWARD | One of the goals of Social Psychological Bulletin is to support researchers at the beginning of their academic careers. Authors who obtained their PhD no more than three years before the publication of their article are automatically considered for the annual Solomon Asch Award.
